July 13th 2014 Review III

Lesson 117

  • Intention:  To review two thoughts each the day
  • Practice:  Devote the first and the last Five-minutes of the waking day reviewing the ideas for the day.  In addition repeat one thought on the hour and the other on the half-hour during the day.

  • Application: -- For the two five-minute sessions, read over the ideas and comments given for each day's exercises.  Think about them while letting your mind relate them to your needs, your seeming problems and all your concerns.  Give the ideas to your mind and let it use them as it chooses.  Have faith that your mind will use them wisely, being helped by the One Who gave the thoughts to you.  Give direction at the onset; then lean back in quiet faith, and let the mind employ the thoughts you gave as they were given.

  • Application: -- For the hourly and half-hourly exercises, Repeat one thought on the hour and the other one half an hour later and allow your mind to rest for a minute or two in silence and in peace.  Then return to your day but try to keep the thought with you, and let it serve to hep you keep your peace throughout the day as well.  These practice periods are planned to help you form the habit of applying what you learn each day to everything you do, so use the thoughts and they will serve you in all ways, times, places, and situations.  Take them with you in the business of the day and make them holy.

For morning and evening five-minute reviews

    (103) God being Love, is also happiness.
Let me remember love is happiness, and nothing else brings joy.  And so I choose to entertain no substitutes for love.
    (104) I seek but what belongs to me in truth.
Love is my heritage, and with it joy.  These are the gifts my Father gave to me.  I would accept all that is mine in truth.

    For one-minute practice:
    On the hour:
God being Love, is also happiness.

    On the half hour:

I seek but what belongs to me in truth.

Insights/comments:
  • That love and happiness are one is not an association we normally make.  We typically think of happiness as a separate emotion, even though we recognize that is a feature or attribute of love, but we don’t typically equate the two.  Yet it is not too far a stretch for us to see that when we feel happy, we also feel some degree of love, so we can agree that happiness is in love, and love in happiness, and they are therefore one and the same.  Wherever you find one, the other is found as well.

  • A common association we make is that God is Love, so it must also be true that God is Happiness, and further that God and Love and Happiness are one and the same.  The implication is inescapable then that when we experience Happiness we are also experiencing Love and God.  Wherever we experience one the other two are also there.  The logical next step is the connection among:  our function as the light of the world, forgiveness, peace, happiness, love, salvation, light, strength, miracles, and God.  These are all aspects of one and the same thing, and where one is found all others are found as well.  This is what we all seek in truth--that which we are, in a word, it’s our godliness.  This is what belongs to us because this is what we are.
I and my Creator are One.  *:)
