July 11th 2014 Review III

Lesson 115

  • Intention:  To review two thoughts each the day
  • Practice:  Devote the first and the last Five-minutes of the waking day reviewing the ideas for the day.  In addition repeat one thought on the hour and the other on the half-hour during the day.

  • Application: -- For the two five-minute sessions, read over the ideas and comments given for each day's exercises.  Think about them while letting your mind relate them to your needs, your seeming problems and all your concerns.  Give the ideas to your mind and let it use them as it chooses.  Have faith that your mind will use them wisely, being helped by the One Who gave the thoughts to you.  Give direction at the onset; then lean back in quiet faith, and let the mind employ the thoughts you gave as they were given.

  • Application: -- For the hourly and half-hourly exercises, Repeat one thought on the hour and the other one half an hour later and allow your mind to rest for a minute or two in silence and in peace.  Then return to your day but try to keep the thought with you, and let it serve to hep you keep your peace throughout the day as well.  These practice periods are planned to help you form the habit of applying what you learn each day to everything you do, so use the thoughts and they will serve you in all ways, times, places, and situations.  Take them with you in the business of the day and make them holy.

For morning and evening five-minute reviews

    (99) Salvation is my only function here.
My function here is to forgive the world for all the errors I have made.  For thus am I released from them with all the world.
    (100) My part is essential to God's plan for salvation.
I am essential to the plan of God for the salvation of the world.  For He gave me His plan that I might save the world.

    For one-minute practice:
    On the hour:
Salvation is my only function here.

    On the half hour:

My part is essential to God's plan for salvation.

Insights/comments:
  • Salvation is my only function.  The course also says that forgiveness is my only function, and again that happiness is my only function.  It also states that happiness and my function are one.  These are not contradictions, but a way of showing the equivalence or oneness of all these statements with respect to the function God gave us.   It means that our function, our salvation, our forgiveness, and our happiness are equivalent, and that fulfilling one is the same as fulfilling any other.  It is quite fortunate for us that our function, our happiness, our forgiveness, and our salvation are tied into one.

  • My part is essential to God's plan for salvation, does not mean that God's plan for salvation is in danger of failing, but it does mean that God has given me the choice of when I wish to be saved.  I have the freedom to choose the hour of my salvation, the day of my awakening and all it takes from my side is a little willingness to accept my part in God's plan.  This little willingness gives the Holy Spirit the green light to do all the heavy lifting necessary for my salvation.  This is how generous and loving God is, He has taken care of everything, and gave me the key to initiate my own salvation when I wish, but even as He awaits my awakening, He is with me, for time is nothing compared to eternity.  I am His, and He is mine, and We, along with all of life are one.

I and my Creator are One.  *:)
