October 4th 2014   Lesson 200

There is no peace except the peace of God.

  • Intention:  To remember to seek for peace only where it will be found, in God, and not in the world of form.
  • Practice:  Twice today, let us go to that quiet place within our hearts and minds where the Light and Love and Joy of God abides.  In that place of safety, let us remember with gratitude the oneness we share with Him who is our Creator and with all of creation.  And when we return to the world of form, let us with gratitude, give a little time each hour to practice forgiveness in the form of today's lesson, applying it to whatever is happening in that hour and releasing all concerns when the hour passes, so that the next hour is free of the one before.

  •  Application:  Peace is the bridge that everyone will cross, to leave this world behind.  But peace begins within the world perceived as different, and leading from this fresh perception to the gate of Heaven and the way beyond.  Peace is the answer to conflicting goals, to senseless journeys, frantic, vain pursuits, and meaningless endeavors.  Now the way is easy, sloping gently toward the bridge where freedom lies within the peace of God.

Let us not lose our way again today.  We go to Heaven, and the path is straight.  Only if we attempt to wander can there be delay, and needless wasted time on thorny byways.  God alone is sure, and He will guide our footsteps.  He will not desert His Son in need, nor let him stray forever from his home.  The Father calls; the Son will hear.  And that is all there is to what appears to be a world apart from God, where bodies have reality.

Today we seek no idols.  Peace can not be found in them.  The peace of God is ours, and only this will we accept and want.  Peace be to us today.  For we have found a simple, happy way to leave the world of ambiguity, and to replace our shifting goals and solitary dreams with single purpose and companionship.  For peace is union, if it be of God.  We seek no further.  We are close to home, and draw still nearer every time we say:

There is no peace except the peace of God,
And I am glad and thankful it is so.

Insights/comments:
  • It is a simple but important principle to seek for what you want only where it will be found.  The peace we want resides only in God; let us seek it there!  God created us as one with Himself, giving us access to all that He is:  perfection, Spirit, freedom, Love, Joy and perfect Peace.  This is what we truly are and what we always will be.  The world of form is our denial of this our true identity.  The way to peace then is to accept our true identity as children of God and leave the world of form by forgiving it for all the illusions we projected upon it.  Regularly stepping away from the noise of the world and embracing the peace of God within our hearts and minds is the way to remember our true identity

I and my Creator are One.  *:)
