December 27th 2014 Lesson 283
Part II Introduction
We will continue spending time with God each morning and night and at each waking hour, using all future lessons as introductions to the times in which we leave the world of pain, and go to enter peace, calling to God when we have need of Him as we are tempted to forget our goal. During these holy times, we will say some simple words of welcome, and expect our Father to reveal Himself to us, as He has promised that He would when we invited Him.
This is how our times with Him will now be spent: we say the words of invitation that His Voice suggests, and then we wait for Him to come to us. Sit silently and wait upon your Father. He has willed to come to you when you have recognized it is your will He do so. We need only call to God, and all temptations disappear. Instead of words, we need but feel His Love. Instead of prayers, we need but call His Name. Instead of judging, we need but be still and let all things be healed.
Our lessons will now be preceded by a theme of special relevance that we should review before each lesson until another is given us. They should be slowly read and thought about a little while, preceding one of the holy times we sit in silence and wait for God to reveal Himself to us. The next of these special thoughts follow and are relevant to lessons 281 - 290:7. What Is the Holy Spirit?
The Holy Spirit mediates between illusions and the truth. Since He must bridge the gap between reality and dreams, perception leads to knowledge through the grace that God has given Him, to be His gift to everyone who turns to Him for truth. Across the bridge that He provides are dreams all carried to the truth, to be dispelled before the light of knowledge. There are sights and sounds forever laid aside. And where they were perceived before, forgiveness has made possible perception's tranquil end.
The goal the Holy Spirit's teaching sets is just this end of dreams. For sights and sounds must be translated from the witnesses of fear to those of love. And when this is entirely accomplished, learning has achieved the only goal it has in truth. For learning, as the Holy Spirit guides it to the outcome He perceives for it, becomes the means to go beyond itself, to be replaced by the eternal truth.
If you but knew how much your Father yearns to have you recognize your sinlessness, you would not let His Voice appeal in vain, nor turn away from His replacement for the fearful images and dreams you made. The Holy Spirit understands the means you made, by which you would attain what is forever unattainable. And if you offer them to Him, He will employ the means you made for exile to restore your mind to where it truly is at home.
From knowledge, where He has been placed by God, the Holy Spirit calls to you, to let forgiveness rest upon your dreams, and be restored to sanity and peace of mind. Without forgiveness will your dreams remain to terrify you. And the memory of all your Father's Love will not return to signify the end of dreams has come.
Accept your Father's gift. It is a Call from Love to Love, that It be but Itself. The Holy Spirit is His gift, by which the quietness of Heaven is restored to God's beloved Son. Would you refuse to take the function of completing God, when all He wills is that you be complete?
Lesson 283
My true Identity abides in You.
- Invitation
Prayer: Father, I made an image of myself, and it is this I call the
Son of God. Yet is creation as it always was, for Your creation is
unchangeable. Let me not worship idols. I am he my Father loves. My
holiness remains the light of Heaven and the Love of God. Is not what
is beloved of You secure? Is not the light of Heaven infinite? Is not
Your Son my true Identity, when You created everything that is?
- Now are we one in shared Identity, with God our Father as our only Source, and everything created part of us. And so we offer blessings to all things, uniting lovingly with all the world, which our forgiveness has made one with us.
Insights/comments:
- If we consider God as the all-encompassing being, what need would He have of anything other than Himself? Indeed everything that exists, already exists within Himself as Himself, so there is no need for any additional creation, for all-that-is is sufficient unto Itself. If anything is lacking from God or Creation, then, by definition, it is neither God nor creation, for this is what all-encompassing means and this is the identity we attribute to and share with God. Certainly we are not currently expressing our fullest potential, nonetheless we are still the holy children of God, just as a child is not less of a human being even though he has not yet grown into his full adult potential. We are what we are as God created us, and that identity is not subject to any change whatsoever, even though we are free to make up imaginative costumes, disguises, personas, etc, for the fun of playing or acting out our imaginings, dreams and fantasies. Realizing our identity as unchanging and Divine, as united with our Creator, as perfect, Spirit, and free, is the basis for accepting and forgiving the world as it is, just as we can accept and forgive a child as he now is, knowing his true potential. We are part of everything, and everything is a part of us. This is our true identity, and this is Unity.
I and my Creator are One.
