September 18th 2014   Lesson 184

The Name of God is my inheritance.

  • Intention:  To remember that all things have one source and therefore one unified name, the holy Name of God.
  • Practice:  Repeat God's name or your own or any other that your choose slowly again and again and still again.  God has no name, for what is unified needs no name.  Therefore if we wish to refer to Him as separate from ourselves, we must give Him a name as we give names to everything else that we perceive as separate.  His Name, the one you choose for Him, thus becomes the final lesson that all things are one, and at this lesson does all learning end.  All names are unified; all space is filled with truth's reflection.  Every gap is closed, and separation healed.  The Name of God is given to us who choose separation instead of unity and illusion in place of truth.

Repeat this Name, become oblivious to every name but this chosen name.  Hear nothing else.  Let all your thoughts become anchored on this.  No other word we use except at the beginning, when we say today's idea but once, then let our chosen Name of God become our only thought, our only word, the only thing that occupies our minds, the only wish we have, the only sound with any meaning, and the only Name of everything that we desire to see; of everything that we would call our own.

  •  Application:   Sit silently, and let His Name become the all-encompassing idea that holds your mind completely.  Let all thoughts be still except this one.  And to all other thoughts respond with this, and see God's Name replace the thousand little names you gave your thoughts, not realizing that there is one Name for all there is, and all that there will be.

No one can fail who seeks the meaning of the Name of God.  Experience must come to supplement the Word.  But first you must accept the Name for all reality, and realize the many names you gave its aspects have distorted what you see, but have not interfered wit truth at all.  On Name we bring into our practicing.  On Name we use to unify our sight.

Insights/comments:
  • "The name of God is holy, but no holier than yours" essentially reminds us that we can also repeat our own name, for all names are in truth the name of God Who's essential character is omnipresent.  God's presence is ubiquitous, present in you, me, everyone, and everything.  So to call on your own name is to call on God's.

  • All that I perceive in my dreams are but the thoughts in my mind, and these thoughts have but one source and therefore one name, my name.  Everything in my dream reality regardless of it characteristics truly has one name--my name, for it inherits the name of its creator, me.  Just so, all things in God's creation inherit His Name, for He is the source of all that truly is.

I and my Creator are One.  *:)
